Meet Harvey Crouch

Mr. Harvey A. Crouch, MS, P.E., is the Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Crouch Engineering, P.C. and provides principal direction for the company. He is a registered professional engineer in more than 35 states and has worked closely with many railroads, state and local governments, state departments of transportation, and private industry on civil and railway engineering projects across the US and overseas. The company was founded to utilize our years of railway engineering experience and expertise to provide the best possible railway engineering services to railroads, railroad customers, and government entities impacted by railroads.

About Our Founder

Mr. Harvey A. Crouch, MS, P.E., is the Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Crouch Engineering, P.C. and provides principal direction for the company. He is a registered professional engineer in more than 35 states and has worked closely with many railroads, state and local governments, state departments of transportation, and private industry on civil and railway engineering projects across the US and overseas. The company was founded to utilize our years of railway engineering experience and expertise to provide the best possible railway engineering services to railroads, railroad customers, and government entities impacted by railroads.

Mr. Crouch has been responsible for route planning for new railroad routes, the design of hundreds of railroad capital improvement projects, highway design, commercial and industrial site design, as well as private commercial and residential developments. He has been responsible for hundreds of railway and civil engineering design projects including planning, surveying and mapping, highway and railroad roadbed design, hydrology and hydraulics, drainage design, culvert and bridge design, erosion control plans, environmental permitting, process water and storm water treatment, retaining walls, crash walls, utility design, route planning and design, cost estimating, bid phase, construction inspection, and construction project management.

Mr. Crouch has over 35 years planning, engineering and survey experience, primarily for road and railroad route design, track design, bridge design, concrete structures and hydraulic analysis, as well as track and bridge inspection and rehabilitation and maintenance project design.

Mr. Crouch has been responsible for many annual track and bridge rehabilitation and replacement projects and railroad/highway projects for railroads in 23 counties in Tennessee, including topographic surveying, track inspection, bridge inspection, the evaluation of track rehabilitation needs, environmental permitting, track design, bridge design, road approach design, track and bridge rehabilitation project design, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, plan review, bid phase work and construction engineering. 

Mr. Crouch started his railroad career in 1977, working with the Southern Railway Company in their Industrial Development Department, and continued working with Norfolk Southern Railway after the Southern Railway – Norfolk & Western merger in 1982 as a Construction Project Engineer and later served as a Track Supervisor in Virginia.
